Bridge and fishing piers at Stubblefield recreation area closed in Sam Houston National Forest
Due to extreme flooding during Hurricane Harvey, the Forest Service has closed the bridge and fishing piers at Stubblefield recreation area in the Sam Houston National Forest.
Forest Service Road 215 from the entrance to Stubblefield campground past the bridge including fishing piers are closed to the public due to damage to the road and bridge.
“Public safety is our first concern and because floodwaters washed out the road and may have undermined the bridge footings, they are closed until repairs are made,” said Forest Supervisor Eddie Taylor.
Sam Houston National Forest sustained as much as 50 inches of rain over three days as Hurricane Harvey stalled over the Houston Metro area.
