Marijuana Grow Found in Walker County

Almost $8M in Marijuana Plants Found


On the afternoon of Friday, June 9, 2017  the Walker County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a possible
narcotics call off of FM 2989.

Upon arrival Walker County Deputies along with Narcotics Investigators met with the complainant, an employee of the property owner, who stated that while working on the property he had located what appeared to be marijuana plants. Walker County Deputies along with Narcotics Investigators were given permission to enter the property. As they located the marijuana plants they spotted a Hispanic male walking towards them and they immediately announced they were with the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.
The unidentified male then fled into the heavily wooded area. As additional units arrived to assist with the search for the man, officers located 5,255 marijuana plants with an estimated value of
$7,866,000 dollars.

While searching the area a camp site was also found that appeared to be used as a living area/shelter space.

At this time the unidentified Hispanic male has not been located.  He is described as 6’2”, black hair, last seen wearing blue jeans and a light colored t-shirt.  He is possibly in his late 20’s or early 30’s.

The investigation is ongoing at this time. The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for their assistance:    if anyone has seen any related activity or may have information regarding the above incident to please contact The Walker County Sheriff’s Office at 936-435-2400.
