Burglary Suspect Arrested

by WCSO Staff

On Sunday January 21, 2018, Walker County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a burglary of a building in the 100 block of Pool Road. Upon making contact with the victim, Deputies learned that a
barn on the property had been broken into earlier that morning.

During the investigation, it was determined that approximately $ 8,000.00 worth of tools had been stolen. Detectives were able to recover all of the stolen property using information that was provided by a witness who took a photograph of a suspicious vehicle located on the property.

On January 23, 2018, subsequent to the investigation, a warrant for Burglary of a Building was issued for 28 year old white male identified as Joshua Wayne Despain. Despain is currently out on Bond for this charge.

Walker County Sheriff Clint McRae would like to thank an alert citizen that took the time to document the suspicious vehicle and would like to remind the community to be aware and report any suspicious activity by calling your local law enforcement agency.

About a year ago we purchased a piece of equipment for around $10,000. We locked it up on our property and placed security cameras to watch our property.

The next morning we discovered that the $10,000 piece of equipment was missing and we had photos of the perp.

We knew his name, where he lived, and where he worked and the Sheriff refused to even go and get our equipment.

A week or so later the “detective” in charge told me in person in his office: “The investigation is on a back burner and the guy broke in to see if he could find his W-2.”

Some time later the same perp (Neiderhofer) was arrested but we have never had any input from the Sheriff or any attempt from the DA to have our equipment returned or the perp paying for what he stole.

This kind of failure to go after IDENTIFIED criminals has gone on since 1974 AND NEVER HAS THE DA ATTEMPTED TO PROSECUTE OR DEMAND THAT THE PERPS PAY FOR DAMAGES!!!
