The Walker County Hospital District’s Board of Managers met Wednesday night for their regularly scheduled meeting. County Judge Danny Pierce was on hand to swear in newly elected board member Dr. David Toronjo and returning member Judy Emmett. Toronjo replaces long-time member Bob Hardy.
Election of board officers followed the swearing-in with Anne Woodard once again being elected to the position of board Chair. Emmett was elected as Vice-Chair and member Jerry Larrison was elected to serve as Board Secretary.
Woodard then presented outgoing board member Bob Hardy with a plaque in appreciation for his almost 40 years of service on the WCHD board. She praised his many years of dedication and service to the district. She personally thanked him for sharing his knowledge with her since her election to the board and said that the board would “miss him terribly.” Woodard also thanked Hardy’s wife for her work on behalf of the board.
HMH staffer Holle Knight gave the quarterly presentation on indigent care patients.
A summary of the District’s 2016 financial audit was given by a representative from Davis, Heinemann & Co P.C. The District currently had $28M in assets and $700,000 in liabilities at the end of fiscal year 2016.
Other actions included reviewing and paying monthly operating bills as well as indigent care bills.
None of the items voted on were available for review prior to the meeting on the District’s website or at the meeting.
