Walker County Libertarian Party readies for local delegate elections.
by Walker County News Today Staff
Members of the Walker County Libertarian Party held their monthly meeting on Wednesday evening to make plans for their upcoming caucus and county convention.
Unlike the Republican and Democrat parties, the Libertarian Party holds a one-day caucus to nominate their candidates. The Walker County chapter holds their caucus in conjunction with their county convention, scheduled to take place in Huntsville on March 12th.
Chairman Tom Laurent says that though the Walker County chapter was only formed a few months ago, he expects they will be sending at least four delegates to the state convention later this year.
When asked about the goals of the local chapter, members responded that they are focused on financial transparency of local government. The group says that they are in favor of growth, economic development, and freedom. Members say that they want a “seat at the table” to help make Walker County the best place possible to live.
