All six candidates for State Representative (HD-18) visit Huntsville for Tea Party Candidate Forum
On Tuesday evening, approximately 100 local residents gathered at the Walker Education Center in Huntsville to listen to all six candidates seeking the Republican nomination for State Representative (HD-18) address citizens questions.
Candidates were asked about a wide range of topics including staffing and pay issues at TDCJ, property taxes, education, and the candidates’ plans to represent the citizens of House District 18 if elected to office. Dewayne Wright, Chairman of the Republican Party of San Jacinto County, served as event moderator.
Organizer Linda Thompson said that the Sam Houston Tea Party was very pleased by the attendance at the event and invites the public to their next candidate forum on January 30th. She said that the goal of the Tea Party was citizen involvement, voter education, and giving voters the opportunity to meet and ask questions of candidates.
The Sam Houston Tea Party began requesting citizen input for candidate questions for this forum several weeks ago. Questions are still being accepted on their website for their candidate forums scheduled for January 30th and on February 11th.
House District 18 includes Walker, San Jacinto, and Liberty counties. The primary election will be held on March 1, 2016.
