Reader and Daugette to face each other in May runoff election.
The Precinct 3 vote recount in the Walker County Precinct 3 race for Commissioner’s Court was completed this afternoon at the Annex.
The incumbent appointee Glen Ray Reader will face challenger Bill Daugette in the May 24th runoff election.
Questions about the vote totals arose after late-night counting of ballots on election night.
Challenger Bill Tutor, who’s final numbers landed him in 3rd place only 2 votes behind Daugette, filed for the re-count last week. Today’s re-count resulted in the same 2-vote difference.
Tutor, Reader, and a representative from the Daugette campaign all observed the recount process which took most of the day.
Tutor says that he was very impressed with the thoroughness and professionalism of the officials that conducted the vote counts today and is satisfied with the result. He looks forward to returning to his full-time job in real estate and congratulates both Reader and Daugette with advancing to the runoff election.
