New Waverly Area Residents to Vote on Proposed Tax Increase

New Waverly area voters to decide whether to allow ESD #2 to impose new sales tax

On May 9, 2015 Walker County residents that reside around the New Waverly area will go to the polls to decide whether the Emergency Services District #2, which services the southern portion of Walker County, will be allowed to impose a 1.5% sales tax.  The Notice of Election was posted on February 24th on the Walker County website.

According to the Public Notice, voters will decide the following:  “The adoption of a local sales and use tax in Walker County Emergency Services District No. 2 at the rate of one and a half percent (1.5%).”

Election Day will be May 9, 2015 at 2 polling locations:

  • Fire Station No. 71  411 FM 1375 E  New Waverly, Texas (for Precincts 202 and 204)
  • Phelps First Methodist Church  455 FM 2296  Huntsville, Texas (Precinct 403)

Early voting will be open from April 27th through May 5th at the Courthouse Annex.

Note: Only persons qualified to vote within the geographic boundaries of Walker County Emergency Services District No. 2, excluding residents of the City of New Waverly and the City of Huntsville, shall be eligible to vote in this election.
