Huntsville Elects a New Mayor

Andy Brauniger is Elected as Huntsville’s next Mayor.

Saturday’s runoff election for Huntsville Mayor ended with a win for current City Councilman Andy Brauniger against another current City Councilman, Keith Olson.

Brauniger showed a strong lead after the early voting numbers were released.  With 1,400 early votes cast, Brauniger’s received 826 votes compared to 574 for Olson.

With fewer than 400 votes cast on election day, the final totals did little to change the results:

  • Brauniger:  992
  • Olson:  788

When asked to comment on his victory, Brauniger replied that the people have spoken and that the government should listen.  He thanked Olsen and commended him on running a hard campaign.

Huntsville City Council will still need to canvas the vote in order for the results to be official.
