Voters on Tuesday overwhelmingly turned down a third attempt to establish an Emergency Services District No. 3 in Crabb’s Prairie.
The Emergency Services District would have set up an additional tax for residents of the district and established an appointed oversight board to provide equipment for fire suppression. The measure failed with 201 votes or 61.85 percent to 124 votes cast for the ESD.
Walker County voters re-elected Bob Hardy to the Hospital District Board of Managers as well as newcomer Judy Emmett. Hardy won 40.19 percent of the vote; Emmett won 38.22 percent; and incumbent Joshua Slott picked up 21.60 percent.
