Obituary for the Rev. Waydell Maxey, Sr.

Services for the Rev. Waydell Maxey, Sr., will be conducted at 11 a.m . Saturday, Jan. 26, at Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 426 SH 190, Huntsville with burial following in Old Colony Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 25, 2019 at the Cox Funeral Home, 1305 13thSt.

Rev. Maxey died Jan. 15 at Huntsville Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on June 17, 1942 to Horace and Pearl Maxey.

He was a loving husband, father, and most of all a man that loved the Lord, is survived by his devoted, God-fearing wife and friend of 37 years of marriage Karen L. Maxey; sons Marcellus Maxey (China), Waydell Maxey Jr. (Balencia), Jeremiah Maxey, Sr. and Joseph Maxey; daughters: Shamay Maxey, Quan Donatto, Shuntala Cuthbert (Eugene) and Veronica Maxey; sisters Alma Faye McGuire and Jacklyn Pearl McAdams, twenty three grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren, host of nieces, nephews, cousins, adopted sons, daughters, grandchildren; special friends Will and Martha Jackson.
