Services for Raymond G. McCarty, who died at home Sept. 11, will be conducted at 11 a.m. in the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will precede services at 10 a.m. Burial will in The Addicks Addition of The Oakwood Cemetery.
Raymond, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was born in Huntsville Dec. 27, 1935. He is survived by two children: Keith McCarty and wife Brenda of Huntsville, Texas, and Janelle Yates and husband Donny of Huntsville, Texas. Three grandchildren: Brian McCarty of Trinity, Texas, Jason Yates and wife Sarah of Montgomery, Texas and Brandon Yates and wife Shelbi of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Five great-grandchildren: Reilly McCarty, Rylynn McCarty, River Yates, Parker Yates and Daven Yates as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, S.E. and Willie Leona McCarty, Brothers: Willie McCarty, Julian McCarty, Cecil McCarty and sister Cleo Rogers.
He lived his entire life in Huntsville. He was considered to be a brilliant electrician by many people and he taught many electricians in Huntsville. He retired from The City of Huntsville as an electrician after many years of employment. After retirement, Raymond enjoyed fishing and boating with his friends in The Sam Houston Forest Subdivision.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Heart to Heart Hospice who visited him in his home. A special thanks is also in order for Dora Avelar, a very special person and friend, who cared for Raymond in his last year.
