Retired butcher from Piggy Wiggly, Safeway and Appletree
Services for Marcus Lee “Buck” Carter, Huntsville, were conducted Friday, Jan. 18 with burial atPine Prairie Freewill Baptist Church, Huntsville.,
He was born in Huntsville, Texas on July 1, 1928. He and his twin sister, Lela, were the last of nine children born to William Burton Carter and Sarah Emma Parker Carter.
At the age of 18, Buck joined the U. S. Marine Corps and traveled the world as a rifleman on a ship. When he was discharged, he came back to Huntsville and married Beulah Mae Langley Carter.
From the young age of 14, except for his time in the Marines, he worked as a butcher at various local grocery stores. Many remember him from Piggly Wiggly, Safeway and Appletree. After retirement, Buck enjoyed tending to his Hereford cattle.
He was predeceased by his parents and all his siblings. He is survived by his two beloved nieces, Sharon Bradley and Earlene Strunk as well as various other family members.
