Graveside services for James Robert King III, 76, of Mineola, who died Monday, Aug. 20 in Tyler, will be at 10:30 AM Thursday, August 23 in Oakwood Cemetery in Huntsville, Pastor Jim Pickens officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday evening at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home.

James Robert King III was born July 17, 1942 in Huntsville to James Robert King Jr. and Virginia (Smither) King.  Robert grew up in Huntsville, graduating from Huntsville High School where he was a Huntsville High School Hornet Cheerleader.  He later attended Sam Houston State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree.

Robert served his country proudly in the US Coast Guard and retired as a Senior Chief.

Robert was a Mineola resident for the past 5 years and was a classic car enthusiast.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Robert King Jr. and Virginia King.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, James Robert King IV of St. Martinville, LA; daughters, Shelley Chance and husband Tod of Hainesville; Mollye Glasscock and husband Tim of Arlington; brother, Col. Jerry Marshall of San Antonio; sister, Mollye Kay Mitchell and husband Howell of Huntsville; and six grandchildren.
