Native of Norway
Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rader Funeral home in Longview for Esther Theodorsen, 86, of Longview, Texas, who passed away Oct. 6, 2018.
Born July 17, 1932, in Fredrikstad, Norway, Esther came with her husband Per to the United States in 1960. They became U.S. citizens in the early 1970s. They settled in California for many years before moving to Texas in 1983, where they lived in Huntsville, Kingwood, Gilmer, and Longview.
Esther was a devoted wife and mother who adored her family. A talented pianist, she had a passion for all kinds of music, often listening to her favorite CDs and tapes for hours on end. Her sweet tooth was known by all as she kept a stock full of her favorites: M&Ms;, Rice Crispy Treats, Werthers, and strawberry ice cream.
She was generous, kind-hearted and had a joyful disposition, even as she suffered chronic pain most of her adult life. She almost always had a smile on her face and a laugh to share. Her wonderful sense of humor was one to experience and anyone who met her would fall instantly in love with her. She was a ray of sunshine that will be missed by those who know and love her.
Esther is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Per Theodorsen, and survived by her three children: daughter Hilde Sladich and her husband Nicholas, of Garden Grove, CA; son Per K. Theodorsen and his wife Kimberly, of Huntsville, TX; and daughter Kristin Poss and her husband Allen, of Longview, TX. Esther is also survived by her grandchildren: Ryan Sladich and his wife Jenny, Travis Sladich, Erik Theodorsen, Evan Theodorsen, Chris Hoot and his wife Angel, Caleb Hoot and his wife Kelly, Natalie Poss and Danielle Poss. She also has three great-grandchildren, Katherine Sladich, Charlotte Sladich, and Aubree Hoot.
