Services will be conducted Monday, Aug. 27, 2018 for Douglas Wayne Ringo at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home-Huntsville with the Rev. Jim Newton officiating. Interment will follow at Brooke Cemetery.
Mr. Ringowas born May 11, 1942 in Huntsville, Texas and entered the Gates of Heaven Aug. 22, 2018 at the age of 76. He was a man of few words, but had a heart of gold. Wayne was proud of his country and served in the United States Navy as an Oceanographer Second Class Petty Officer (OS2) on the USNS Dutton from 1961-1962 and the USNS Compass Island from 1963-1964. After retiring from Unisys in Houston, he and his wife Sandra moved back to Huntsville where he went to work for and retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as an IT Specialist. In his free time, Wayne enjoyed historical reading and politics.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Sandra Locke Ringo of Huntsville, Texas; sons Eddie Ringo (Marla) of Spring, Texas; Chip Ringo of Nashville, Tennessee; Bobby Cayton, Jr. (Lisa) of Houston, Texas; daughters, Tracy Ringo Guynes (G.) of Conroe, Texas; Carol Ann Tillman (Randy) of Thomson, Georgia; and a sister, Donnie Ringo Hart of Huntsville, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer Stormer (Charles), Chris Stormer, Darby Ringo, Paige Harmon, Lia Tillman Fricke, Sean Tillman, Ashton Tillman, Tara Tillman, Jordan Cayton Haynes, and Taylor Cayton; nine great-grandchildren; a special aunt, Ollie B. Ringo; niece LaDonna Kay Collier (Bryan); and numerous cousins.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Frank Ringo and Lillian Colburn Ringo.
