The Walker County Alumni and Friends Club of Sam Houston State University will host their sixth annual scholarship fundraising event on Monday, Jan. 28. Everyone in Huntsville and the surrounding Walker County region is invited to attend.
With a goal to fund a $100,000 SHSU scholarship endowment, the organization believes the upcoming event will help them reach the important benchmark.
In addition to the two scholarships to be awarded this year, seven scholarships have been awarded by the Walker County Alumni and Friends Club in the last six years. All scholarships supported by the organization go to students from counties in and around Huntsville including, Walker, Madison, Trinity, and San Jacinto County.
Taking place at the Elkins Lake Clubhouse starting at 6:30 pm, the evening will include a dinner buffet and cocktails, along with silent and live auctions featuring a variety of unique items.
Tickets to the event are $50 per person and can be reserved online (alumni.shsu.edu) or by calling 800.283.7478 by January 18.
Chartered in 2012, the Walker County Area Alumni & Friends Club serves to strengthen relationships between the region’s large base of alumni and friends and SHSU.
