A Huntsville Independent School District teacher and assistant football coach has been arrested and charged with having an improper relationship with a student, Huntsville police said Wednesday.
HPD arrested Darius Hopkins, 27, after having received information from Huntsville Independent School District of a possible improper relationship between an educator and a student. A police investigation resulted in Hopkins’ arrest on two counts of a second-degree felony. He was booked into the Walker County Jail.
HISD officials said on Wednesday that Hopkins had resigned. The district put Hopkins on administrative leave last month when the alleged relationship was first reported.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
