HISD Deputy Superintendent Cruse named Lone Finalist for Superintendent of Graham ISD
Huntsville ISD announced Wednesday that Sonny Cruse, Deputy Superintendent has been named the Lone Finalist for Superintendent of Graham ISD. The GISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to select him during their Tuesday evening board meeting. Mr. Cruse provided notification first thing this morning of GISD’s decision to HISD Superintendent Dr. Howell Wright and district administration. With the selection of any superintendent, Texas school districts must name a lone finalist 21 days prior to finalizing the decision and voting to hire the new superintendent.
Mr. Cruse has been with Huntsville ISD exactly 3 years this summer. He has previously served as Superintendent at Bonham ISD for 5 years. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Superintendent, Principal and Assistant Principal for China Spring ISD and as a teacher and coach in Temple ISD, Angleton ISD, and Sanger ISD.
“Huntsville ISD will greatly miss Mr. Cruse. We attribute many of our successful programs and current processes due his professionalism and direction. He is highly respected and admired for his positive personality and leadership style. During his service to the district, he has proven to be a very dedicated and committed administrator. We appreciate all that he has done for the students and staff of HISD and join with his family in their excitement for this wonderful new opportunity for professional growth and leadership in GISD. We know he will do great things for the students and staff of GISD!” shared Dr. Wright.
As previously shared, Huntsville ISD has gone through many organizational changes this summer in preparation for the 2015-2016 school year. Mr. Cruse leaving will create a vacancy that current administration will need to consider and evaluate as it impacts the other recent changes made in order to determine the best direction for the district.
