HPD Asking Public for Assistance to Apprehend Nicholas Allen

During the evening hours on Sunday, July 12, 2015, officers responded to a shooting call in the 500 block of 8th Street. During their investigation officers determined that two black male suspects had shot numerous rounds into a car as it drove by them. One of the occupants of the vehicle received injury as a result of the shooting and was transported via Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas. (The victim has since received treatment for injuries and has been released from the hospital.)

Soon after the shooting one of the suspects, Ira James Baldwin, was arrested on an Aggravated Assault charge. Aggravated Assault is a Felony of the 1st degree and carries a punishment of 5 to 99 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, and a possible fine of up to $10,000.

Further investigation revealed the involvement of a second suspect, Nicholas Allen. A warrant has been issued for Allen on the charge of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon is a Felony of the 3rd degree and carries a punishment of 2 to 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, and a possible fine of up to $10,000.

The Huntsville Police Department is seeking assistance in locating Allen. Information on Allen’s location should be relayed to the Huntsville Police Department at 936-435-8001 or to Crime Stoppers at 936-294-9494. Allen should be considered armed and dangerous. The public is urged to contact police if he is seen, but not to attempt to apprehend Allen themselves.
