Huntsville ISD announced a number of organizational changes being made in preparation for the 2015-2016 school year following Thursday’s regular Board of Trustees meeting. The Board voted unanimously to approve the district’s personnel recommendations for staff and administrator positions.
Stewart Elementary Principal Amber Rodriguez made the personal decision to return to the assistant principal role and will be joining the administrative staff of Gibbs PreKindergarten Center. Robin Stowe was approved as the new Principal for Stewart Elementary. Stowe comes to us most recently from Lovelady ISD as High
School Principal with extensive prior administrative experience in both the Lufkin and Crockett school systems.
That’s not the only leadership change at HISD. Kate Patterson was also hired to fill the Director of Special Education position that was recently vacated by Allison Hollis. Patterson leaves Judson ISD where she is the assistant director for Special Education with prior experience in San Antonio ISD.
Amy Turner, Huntsville Intermediate School assistant principal, will be the new Director of Elementary Curriculum & Instruction. Kerri Tharp, also assistant principal at Huntsville Intermediate School, has resigned to take a position outside the district. Moving over to Huntsville Intermediate to fill the assistant principal positions will be Albert Archuleta, assistant principal at Gibbs PreK and Christell Marshall, assistant principal at Mance Park Middle School. Christy Cross will also be joining the Huntsville Intermediate administrative team as a new assistant principal.
Cortney Lucas, Samuel W. Houston Elementary assistant principal, recently resigned her position after her family relocated outside of the district. Jessie Anderson, Huntsville High School assistant principal, will be moving over to replace her in that assistant principal position.
“We welcome the new administrators to our district and we are very proud that these recent personnel changes present exiting new opportunities for professional growth for our current administrative staff,” stated Dr. Howell Wright, HISD Superintendent of Education.
Several additional campus-based administrative positions are posted and applications are being accepted for the position of Dean of Instruction at Mance Park Middle School and Assistant Principal at Huntsville High School. The district looks forward to announcing those hires in the very near future.
