BBQ lunch begins at 11 AM with a live Auction at 1 PM, day’s activities capped off by popular local Fireworks Show
The New Waverly Volunteer Fire Department and the New Waverly 4-H Community Club will be hosting a full day of events on Monday, July 4th, beginning at 11 AM with a BBQ Lunch at St. Joseph’s Church in New Waverly. An auction begins at 1 PM with all proceeds going to support the New Waverly 4-H Community Club.
The New Waverly Volunteer Fire Department and the New Waverly 4-H Community Club are both organizations with deep roots in our community. The New Waverly Volunteer Fire Department has a long list of accomplishments, such as lowering homeowner’s insurance rating and costs, increasing the number of trained emergency responders and decreasing response times. The New Waverly 4-H Community Club has grown to over 125 members in the last few years and has sponsored numerous members for leadership opportunities, camps and given many scholarships throughout the community. This new partnership will continue our traditional 4th of July celebrations while benefitting the youth of New Waverly.
The festivities continue that evening with a family style gathering around Prosperity Bank in downtown New Waverly. A Children’s parade will be held at 7:30 pm, and then the annual raffle drawing takes place at sunset. This year’s Grand Prize is a brand new Honda 4 Wheeler, with 2nd and 3rd place winners taking home a custom fire pit and a big screen TV.
Just after dark, the main event begins. New Waverly Firefighters have been setting off the fireworks show for the community for over 20 years and in recent years the show has grown in both reputation and attendance. New Waverly residents and visitors from all over Walker and Montgomery County come out to visit with neighbors and enjoy the small town atmosphere.
Everyone is welcome to attend, and raffle tickets are available at the Fire Station in New Waverly and from Firefighters and 4-H members. We look forward to seeing everyone there and wish all a safe and happy Independence Day.
