New Waverly Fire Department and 4-H announce new partnership aimed at benefitting community youth programs.
New Waverly Firefighters are excited to announce a new partnership with the New Waverly 4-H club for this year’s New Waverly 4th of July Celebration. Members of both organizations will be collaborating in hopes of not only continuing the popular hometown celebration, but expanding its outreach by supporting the youth of New Waverly.
The New Waverly Volunteer Fire Department and the New Waverly 4-H Community Club are both organizations with deep roots in our community. The New Waverly Volunteer Fire Department has a long list of accomplishments, such as lowering homeowners insurance rating and costs, increasing the number of trained emergency responders and decreasing response times. The New Waverly 4-H Community Club has grown to over 125 members in the last few years and has sponsored numerous members for leadership opportunities, camps and given many scholarships throughout the community.
New Waverly Fire Chief Jacob Slott stated, “We always look for ways to serve our citizens, and in particular we have been exploring how best to share the success of our 4th of July celebration with other worthy organizations. This partnership just feels like a natural fit for us, as the folks from 4-H are just as committed as we are to supporting the youth of our community. We could not be happier and hope that the citizens of New Waverly join us in supporting these efforts.”
New Waverly 4-H President Cynthia Minyard has also voiced her support stating, “We are excited about this opportunity to expand our organization’s impact on the youth of New Waverly. We have been fortunate over the last year in attracting new volunteers, and we have been looking for ways to increase both the number of youth scholarships and camp sponsorships we offer. In addition to these programs, we hope to support our student’s 4-H projects in the future with more education and better facilities for youth 4-H projects.”
The New Waverly 4th of July Celebration continues to grow in popularity each year, featuring a community BBQ, fundraising raffle and auctions, and is capped off of by a children’s parade and fireworks show that attracts thousands from all over the area.
