Local Republicans bringing “Mattress Mack” to Reagan Dinner

Local Republicans will bringing a Houston-area business icon to Walker County for the Feb. 21 Reagan Dinner as a part of a remembrance for the late President George H. W. Bush.

Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale, owner of Gallery Furniture and one of the most iconic businessmen in Texas, is set to be the guest speaker Feb. 21 at the Lowman Center ballroom on the Sam Houston State University campus. McIngvale is the owner of Gallery Furniture and is regarded as one of the region’s top community leaders and donors.

The Republican Party of Walker County and Walker County Republican Women sponsor the annual dinner, which will start with a 6 p.m. reception.

In addition to McIngvale, Congressman Kevin Brady and Representative Ernest Bailes are expected to make appearances.

The dinner will also feature a tribute to Andrew and Ila Martinez, who passed away last year. Both were longtime members and volunteers in the local Republican Party.

Attendees can park free of charge at the Lowman Student Center parking garage. Tickets can purchased at the Republican Party of Walker County headquarters, located at 1201 University Ave.

The cost of a reservation is $50 person. There are also gold and diamond tables available for purchase that cost $550 and $600. For questions, call Linda McKenzie at 936-661-5754.
