Beginning at 12 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017, the Southbound Exit Ramp to FM 1374 will be closed until approximately 5:00 a.m.. Southbound I-45 traffic exiting to FM 1374 and FM 1375 should use Exit 109, State Park Road 40.
The reason for the closure is to allow the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to widen the Southbound Exit Ramp at FM 1374 and conduct maintenance on the West Frontage Road at the exit ramp. The closure will allow the construction of the widening and maintenance of the west frontage road safely for the public as well as the contractor‘s personnel.
To alert drivers to the Southbound Exit Ramp temporary closure, a changeable message sign will be placed on southbound I-45 north of FM 1374 alerting traffic of the temporary closure. Prior to closing the ramp a changeable message sign will be placed on southbound I-45 north of Exit 109 advising traffic to use the exit for FM 1374 and FM 1375.
This temporary closure is part of the reconstruction of I-45 that will involve replacing the existing four-lane divided highway with a six-lane highway with a concreted median barrier in southern Walker County. The project is scheduled to be completed in May 2021.
During the four-year project, multiple lane shifts and relocation of traffic will take place at various times to accommodate construction activity.
