Main Street Program highlights benefits of shopping locally for the holidays.
Hit the snooze button on Black Friday, avoid the crowded department stores, and make Christmas shopping enjoyable by taking part in Small Business Saturday! Huntsville has plenty of local stores to cross off everyone on your Christmas shopping list.
The City recently welcomed a new Main Street Coordinator, Debbie Charbonneau, and as a former small business owner herself, she is bringing a lot of passion to this year’s Small Business Saturday promotion for Huntsville.
“Small Business Saturday is exactly what it sounds like, a day where you’re encouraged to buy local, and it’s this Saturday! 95 million shoppers supported their small local businesses last year and they continue to embrace the day as a holiday shopping tradition,” said Charbonneau.
“We would like the residents of Huntsville to do their holiday shopping here. Locally-owned shops have unique items and gifts that you cannot find in other stores.”
“Local small businesses offer more personal service. When someone decides to open a small business, it’s because they have a passion for their concept. This passion often translates to excellent customer care. It’s been estimated that over 50% of every dollar spent in a small business goes directly back into the community.”
“Shopping small means helping our neighbors and supporting Huntsville. Small Business Saturday is this Saturday, November 26, and we want everyone to come out and shop local!”
