This holiday season local resident Emily Binetti wants Huntsville shoppers to give back to the Huntsville community by skipping the malls and online shopping options and buying local. Her new “Shop Huntsville” website features a variety of local gift ideas to inspire residents to explore all the great stores and options Huntsville offers.
“Local spending circles back to you. Local owners are more likely to keep their profits circulating right here in our economy, a multiplier effect that directly benefits you, your family and your neighbors,” Binetti explained.
“Huntsville’s downtown area is also ideal for gift shopping. Many of our quaint local shops are stocked with specialty handmade and vintage gifts. And our downtown square offers a picturesque backdrop with an old-fashioned holiday feel that is something locals and tourists should come out and experience.”
According to the Andersonville Study of Retail Economics, local business generates 70 percent more local economic activity per square foot than big-box retail business.
