Huntsville City Council has approved $650,000 for new manufacturing facility.
The Huntsville City Council has voted to offer Containment Solutions, Inc., a Company based in Conroe, up to $650,000 to locate a new manufacturing plant in Huntsville. The plant would be located on American Legion Road on the north side of the City, just off of FM 2821.
The Council vote was 8-1 in favor with Ward 3 Councilmember Ronnie Allen being the lone dissenter. Council also waived the customary Two-Reading Rule normally required in such cases.
There was no public discussion prior to the vote, but according to information released by the City after the meeting, the project will entail the construction of a new 100,000 square foot manufacturing facility to produce fiberglass underground storage tanks. Initial cost is estimated at $12 million for land, buildings and equipment. The plant is expected to employ 65 hourly employees and 10 salaried employees with an average annual salary and benefits estimated at $60,000.
The City said that the incentive money would help pay for new streets, water and sewer facilities and provide the Company with direct cash payments for jobs created for Walker County residents.
