The City of Huntsville welcomed Brenda Poe to the office of Deputy City Secretary/Assistant Public Information Officer in December.
Poe, a resident of Huntsville, has been employed with the City for three years. She previously served as Catalog Librarian at the Huntsville Public Library.
“There were many strong candidates for the position, but Brenda’s enthusiasm for and interest in the work we do brought her to the forefront,” City Secretary Lee Woodward said. “She has made a strong start and is very excited to share with the public the services we provide and knowledge about the professionalism and hard work of all the employees of the City of Huntsville.”
Poe brings over 20 years of digital media experience to the position. She holds several awards for news writing, media design, and website management.
“I am excited to join Lee at City Hall. I look forward to working with the public and the other city employees, and to provide quality, up-to-date information in a timely manner,” Poe said. “My passion has always been and will continue to be making Huntsville better for everyone. I may not be a native, but I have grown to love our community and its residents.”
Poe and her husband have three children and two granddaughters.
