by HISD staff

The Huntsville ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the recommendation for hire presented by Superintendent Dr. Scott Sheppard during a special called meeting on  June 12, 2018. William C. “Bill” Roberts was approved as the new principal for Huntsville High School. Roberts  will be filling the  vacancy created by Justin Grimes who recently resigned to accept an administrative position  in College Station ISD.

“We had a lot of interest from more than 40 quality applicants. The top eight candidates went through an  extensive interview and selection process involving a nine-person panel of district administrators and campus  staff members. Bill Roberts came out as the leader from this impressive field of candidates,” stated Dr.  Sheppard.

Mr. Roberts will be joining Huntsville ISD this summer with more than 25 years of educational leadership  experience. The past 13 years of his career have been spent in campus administration for the Katy  Independent School District in Katy, Texas. His professional experience includes campus and district  administration. Having experience at both the junior and senior high school levels, he brings a wealth of  knowledge in secondary campus administration. His expertise in analyzing data, identifying instructional  needs, and implementing programs and resources to support student learning have improved academic  performance overall. Roberts is a natural leader and has a unique approach to leadership that empowers  staff, builds rapport, and promotes collaboration, ownership, and responsibility. His administrative talents,  strong curriculum background with school improvement experience make him the ideal new principal to lead  Huntsville High School. Prior to becoming a Texas educator, Roberts was a district and campus administrator  in Kansas.

Dr. Sheppard shared, “Bill has the perfect mix of small town high school principal experience, along with many  years as a junior high and high school administrator in one of the premier school districts in Texas. He respects  the traditions of Huntsville and will push us to be the best we can be for the kids and community. His past  shows he can use his experience and skills to improve campus climate, instruction and overall success.”
