During the HISD Board of Trustees regular meeting on June 28, trustees unanimously approved the hiring of district recommendations to fill several administrative vacancies. Mr. Gary Juarez will be joining Huntsville ISD as the new Executive Director of Human Capital and Talent Acquisition. Juarez will be replacing Mrs. Colleen McMillian the current Executive Director of Human Resources who recently announced her intent to resign her position to pursue other interests outside the district. Mr. Juarez comes to the district from Spring ISD where he has been the Human Resources Elementary Coordinator since January 2014. He also has previous experience as a campus administrator.
The search continues for a new head principal at Mance Park Middle School to replace Mr. Robert Bennett who will be leading our new Westmoreland Academy this coming school year. The district is excited to announce two new leaders who will be joining the Mance Park administrative staff. Ms. Jordan Pound and Mr. Jesus Oyervides will fill the assistant principal vacancies there. Ms. Pound has recently served as an English teacher and RTI coordinator for Conroe ISD. Mr. Jesus Oyervides has recently been in Navasota ISD as an assistant principal with previous teaching experience there and in Conroe ISD. They will both be filling the vacancies created by Mr. John Spencer who desires to leave administration and return to the classroom as teacher and Mr. Shawn Dunbar who recently moved over to Huntsville Elementary as assistant principal.
Huntsville ISD looks forward to welcoming each of these new administrators to our community and to the Hornet family. Though the district is closed July 4-8 for the holiday week, the effort to fill all current openings will continue throughout the month of July in hopes of being fully staffed and well prepared for the new 2016-2017 school year by early August.
